Bonjour, my dear readers of Easy-Peasy Dish! Today, I would like to share with you a pasta recipe that is not only delicious but also a symphony of flavours. A pasta recipe that will tantalize your taste buds and take you on a culinary journey through the fields of the Loire Valley and beyond.
The Perfect Harmony of Sweet Peas, Tender Asparagus, and Salt-Cured Serrano Ham
Let me introduce to you, pasta with asparagus, petit pois, and Serrano ham. This dish is an exquisite combination of tender asparagus, sweet petit pois, and salty Serrano ham, all brought together by a touch of hazelnut oil.
A Personal Touch: Hazelnut Oil
For me, cooking is not just about creating a delicious meal, but it’s also about adding a personal touch, and that’s why I love using hazelnut oil in this pasta recipe. Hazelnut oil has a rich, nutty hint that complements the sweetness of the petit pois and the saltiness of the Serrano ham perfectly. And, let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a good oil in their pasta?
A Toast to the Loire Valley: Coteaux d’Ancenis White Wine
And what better way to accompany this dish than with a glass of Coteaux d’Ancenis white wine from the Loire Valley. This wine is a celebration of the Loire Valley’s unique terroir and winemaking heritage.
A Journey Through Time: The Origins of Coteaux d’Ancenis Wines
Situated midway between Nantes and Angers, Coteaux d’Ancenis is a small yet dynamic wine region in the western Loire Valley. It boasts a rich history dating back to the 17th century, when Dutch traders arrived and introduced Pinot Gris grapes to increase production of sweet white wines. This infused new energy into the local economy, solidifying wine as a key player. Today, Coteaux d’Ancenis stands proud as an enclave of the expansive Pays Nantais area.
The Heart of the Loire: Discovering Coteaux d’Ancenis
Coteaux d’Ancenis white wines are made from a blend of Chenin, Chardonnay, Grolleau Gris in Brem, and Sauvignon in Vix. They are characterized by their pale pink appearance, with hints of strawberry and red berry on the nose. The fresh and fruity flavors, combined with lively acidity, make these wines a true delight to drink. The minerality in each sip adds depth and complexity, while notes of honey, light apricot, and acidity round out the experience.
For those who enjoy a touch of sweetness, Coteaux d’Ancenis Malvoisie, made from Pinot Gris grapes, is a must-try. This sweet white wine is a perfect match for those who love a hint of sugar in their glass.
Serving Suggestion
The ideal temperature to serve Coteaux d’Ancenis white wines is between 9 and 11°C. This will allow you to fully appreciate the fresh and fruity notes that make these wines so special.
Coteaux d’Ancenis is a hidden gem in the western Loire Valley, a region that is home to some of the finest white wines in my beloved France. With its rich history, and delicious sweet white wines, Coteaux d’Ancenis is a must-visit for anyone who loves wine and the art of winemaking.
