TAGLIATELLE WITH MONT D’OR CHEESE AND LARDONS

Healthy pasta dish

Are you looking for Mont d’Or cheese recipes? I have just one for you.  A very quick and original pasta dish with Mont d’Or cheese, some lardons and tagliatelle. Yum.

The first time I made this recipe, everyone was a little bit sceptical  : would it be too heavy? Is the Mont d’Or cheese with the tagliatelle goes well? Yes, it goes very well indeed, especially with the lardons. They are essential to this recipe as they balanced the subtle taste of the Mont d’Or cheese.

What is the Mont d’Or cheese?

This typical French cheese takes its name from the highest mountain in the Doubt area (the Jura region). The first traces date back to the 18th century. The Mont d’Or cheese was adorned at the table of our beloved king, Louis the XV who loved this cheese for the finesse and smoothness of its dough.

Mont d’Or or Vacherin cheese?

You may have certainly heard of the Vacherin cheese, a similitude to the Mont d’Or cheese because of its wooden box! But the last one come from Switzerland so, if you attend a future conversation about cheese, you will be able to tell the difference between both…

Where can I buy my Mont d’Or cheese?

In London, you may easily find this Mont d’Or cheese in Waitrose or any good “fromagerie”. To be honest, the size may be a little bit reluctant as 700 g is quite a lot for a cheese (but not for a cheese lover like me).

For this pasta dish, you need less than half of the cheese, so what can you do with half of it ?

And because we are in the middle of winter, you may wish to indulge yourself in a little kind of express fondue with the little wooden box as known as a baked Mont d’Or (here).
