But if you can’t go to Crete, you can still experience its divine flavours with this exquisite Cretan tomato salad (Dakos salata) I propose to you today…

A Salad of Mediterranean Delights

One of the best things about Cretan cuisine is its focus on fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. And this tomato salad is no exception. Each bite is a burst of Mediterranean essence that will transport you to the sunny shores of Crete.

No Cooking Required

If you’re looking for a quick and easy salad that doesn’t require any cooking, then this Dakos salata is perfect for you. It’s a dish that you can assemble in minutes, making it ideal for busy weeknights or lazy weekends.

The Magic of Crete

There’s something truly magical about the island of Crete, and this Dakos salata is just a small taste of what this legendary cuisine has to offer. With each bite, you’ll be transported to the sun-soaked shores of Greece, where the sea meets the sky and the aromas are as bright and vibrant as the island itself.

Your Inner Wine Connoisseur with Saint Sardos Rosé

When it comes to wine pairing, I recommend the Saint-Sardos Rosé from the South West. With its refreshing acidity and delicate aromas of red fruit and citrus, it’s the perfect accompaniment to this Cretan delight.

Saint Sardos is a distinguished appellation wine hailing from the breath-taking Saint-Sardos region in South West France. Located along a picturesque 25km stretch of the Garonne River, between the natural reserve of Lomagne and the Garonne River near Castelsarrasin and Moissac, this appellation offers a diverse range of red and rosé wines that are sure to delight your senses.

The Perfect Serving Temperature

To truly appreciate the full-bodied profile of this wine, it is best served chilled between 7 and 10°C. This ideal temperature range will enhance the distinctive characteristics of this remarkable wine, allowing its rich, dark salmon pink colour and fine muscat nose to captivate your palate.

A Blend of Shiraz/Syrah and Cabernet Franc

Crafted from a harmonious blend of Shiraz/Syrah and Cabernet Franc grapes, Saint Sardos Ô Vignerons Rosé offers a sensory experience that is truly unparalleled. This wine is renowned for its fruity aromas, which are infused with intense exotic notes. Syrah is the main grape variety used, imparting spicy notes that are seamlessly combined with Tannat, adding a layer of complexity and intensity to this already remarkable wine.

Red Fruits on the Palate

On the palate, this wine boasts a round, caressing, lively, and aromatic taste. It opens onto a mesmerizing blend of red fruits and pretty floral aromas, leaving a lasting impression that will keep you coming back for more.

A History as Rich as its Flavour

Saint-Sardos is an appellation steeped in history. The region was historically referred to as Saintonge after the Gallic tribe of Santones, which occupied western France, north of Bordeaux. The War of Saint-Sardos, a pivotal moment in the region’s history, resulted in a clear defeat for the English in 1325, leading indirectly to the overthrow of Edward II of England. Today, Saint-Sardos stands as a testament to the region’s rich cultural heritage and its long-standing tradition of winemaking.

The Only Vineyard in France to Blend Syrah and Tannat

Saint Sardos is also home to the only vineyard in France to blend Syrah and Tannat grapes, creating a range of wines that are both complex and intense. This innovative approach to winemaking has earned the region a well-deserved reputation as a pioneer in the world of wine.
