GINGER BEEF
Ginger Beef: A Simple and Delicious Dish for Your Culinary Arsenal
This ginger beef is a personal favourite of my daughter, who often requests it for dinner. What I love about this recipe is that you do not need any special Asian ingredients. Everything you need is most likely waiting patiently in your cupboard, and you can have this dish ready in no time.
Personal Experience of Taste
I first tasted this dish at my good friend’s house, prepared by her Vietnamese husband. The flavors were out of this world! The aroma of the beef combined with the heat of the ginger was an experience like no other. The dish was so simple yet so delicious that I had to ask for the recipe.
Quality of Beef Matters
The quality of the beef is crucial to the success of this dish. You want to buy the best tender beef you can find. Chewy beef will completely change the recipe, and the result will be less than desirable. The right cut of beef makes all the difference in the world.
Substitutes for Sesame Oil
If you do not have sesame oil on hand, don’t worry. You can use a neutral oil like groundnut or sunflower oil. The result will be just as delicious, and you will not sacrifice the overall taste of the dish.
The Brézème Zone – A Little-Known Gem
A great wine pairing for this ginger beef is the red Côtes du Rhône Brézème from the Rhone Valley. This little-known area boasts some of the Rhône’s best-kept secrets, including this exquisite wine!
The Catch-All Appellation
Introduced in November 1937, the Côtes du Rhône appellation aimed to provide a catch-all title for good quality Rhône wines from the valley’s lesser-known and less prestigious viticultural areas. While initially perceived as a compromise, the appellation has since flourished, producing exceptional wines that rival those of its more prestigious neighbours.
The Dark and Ripe Wine with Considerable Weight
Côtes du Rhône Brézème is made from Syrah grapes, which are handpicked from young vines in limestone soils that are uncommon in this part of the Rhône. This rich and intense wine is dark and ripe, with considerable weight, making it an ideal choice for those who appreciate full-bodied reds. Its taste profile is described as vibrant and distinctive, with spicy and fruity flavors that dance on the palate.
The Terroir of the Rhône Valley
The Côtes du Rhône wine region spans an impressive 171 communes along the Rhône River, encompassing a rich and varied terroir. The Mediterranean climate, hot and dry summers, and rocky river banks contribute to the unique character of the wines produced in this region. Each appellation has its own distinct identity, showcasing the diversity and complexity of the Rhône Valley.
For those who appreciate the complexities of the Rhône Valley’s terroir and the full-bodied richness of Syrah grapes, Côtes du Rhône Brézème is an absolute must-try…
