ROQUEFORT BUTTERED CHICKEN
Speedy-quick roquefort buttered chicken paired with a lovely white wine from Burgundy. An incredible recipe with the famous roquefort.
The Rich Heritage of Roquefort
In the culinary realm, few things are as enchanting as the magic that unfolds when disparate ingredients unite to create a gem in cooking! At the heart of this gastronomic alchemy lies the charismatic Roquefort cheese, and today, I propose to you a quick and easy Roquefort-buttered chicken : a dish that has the power to convert even the most ardent sceptics into devoted Roquefort enthusiasts.
From Scepticism to Adoration
Are you really not keen on Roquefort cheese? Are you sure? These questions echoed to my friends for years until I create a recipe that converted those around me. The first to succumb was obviously my own daughter, who, despite vehemently disliking Roquefort initially, found herself bewitched by the special taste woven by this exquisite cheese.
As we enjoyed the dish together, she unravelled the mystery behind her change of heart, delving into the intricacies of Roquefort’s creation. The maturation process, the infusion of penicillin : each element added a layer of fascination to this cheese.
The Quick and Easy Roquefort-Buttered Chicken
I cannot help but reminisce about the countless occasions this dish has played the role of a culinary maestro, orchestrating symphonies of happiness in my household. It became a culinary anthem, transforming gatherings into unforgettable feasts and making Roquefort a revered guest to my guests at my dining table.
Discovering Sainte-Croix-du-Mont
The Sainte-Croix-du-Mont, a white wine from Bordeaux, proves to be the perfect companion to my Roquefort-buttered chicken recipe!
Situated within the Aquitaine region of France, the wine-growing area envelops the commune of Sainte-Croix-du-Mont in the Gironde department.
Covering over 500 hectares, the appellation of Sainte-Croix-du-Mont thrives on the right bank of the Garonne river, boasting a landscape conducive to the cultivation of Sémillon, Sauvignon, and Muscadelle grape varieties. Drawing parallels with its more illustrious neighbour, Sauternes, wines from this region possess a unique charm and an aging potential that can span several decades.
Complex Profile
The wines of Sainte-Croix-du-Mont are renowned for their powerful, nervy, and complex taste, leaving a lasting impression with a lingering finish. This oenological gem offers a delicate balance of sweetness and acidity, distinguishing itself as an affordable alternative to the famed ‘sticky’ wines like Chateau d’Yquem. With a suggested serving temperature between 9 °C and 12 °C.
Pour a glass, and close your eyes : from grape and fig to acacia, honeysuckle, and ripe fruits. The round texture, accented with notes of apricot, honey, and acacia blossom, makes for a pleasing, if not profound, experience.
Noble Rot and History
Steeped in history, the white wines of Sainte-Croix-du-Mont trace their origins back to the 17th century. A period marked by conflicts between wine producers and vineyard owners striving to harvest grapes at the optimal moment. This historical backdrop adds depth to the character of the wines, as they continue to captivate connoisseurs with the influence of noble rot, enhancing sugar content, acidity, and glycerol levels in the grape clusters.
In fine
As I pen down this ode to the Roquefort-buttered chicken, I am reminded that culinary preferences are fluid, capable of transforming even the staunchest sceptics into enthusiasts. So, for those who have yet to experience the gastronomic marvel that is Roquefort, I extend an invitation to embark on this culinary escapade…
