A Little Bit of my South of France
Believe me, this cake will be lovely to share with family and friends. I tend to do it quite a lot! It is very, very tasty, with just the right balance of savoury and cheesy goodness. This chorizo, green pepper and mozzarella cake recipe is a little bit of my South of France, a little bit of summer time…
A Little Bit of Summer Time
The chorizo and green peppers in this cake bring a touch of the South of France to your table. The spicy, smoky hint of chorizo pairs perfectly with the sweet and tangy taste of green peppers. These ingredients come together to create a mouthwatering cake that will transport you to the French Mediterranean coast if you close your eyes.
With its vibrant tones and fresh ingredients, this cake is a perfect representation of summer time. The green pepper adds a pop of colour, while the mozzarella cheese adds a creamy texture that balances out the spicy taste of the chorizo. Each bite is like taking a bite out of a sunny day.
To Try It Is To Adopt It
I have made this cake for many, many years now. I cannot really remember when I started, but I do remember the first time I tasted it. I was hooked from the very first bite. Since then, I have shared this recipe with countless friends and family members, all of whom have become just as addicted to it as I am. To try it is to adopt it, and I guarantee that once you taste it, you will be hooked too.
The Quintessential Taste of Southern France
To complement this cake, I recommend pairing it with a Saint-Chinian Rosé from my utterly beautiful Languedoc Roussillon. This wine has a fruity, crisp taste that complements the spiciness of the chorizo. It also boasts a rich history and a unique blend of grape varieties.
The Legacy of Saint-Chinian Wine: A Story Centuries in the Making
The story of Saint-Chinian wine dates back to the 8th century when Benedictine monks began cultivating vines around the abbey on the left bank of the Vernazobres. Since then, the region’s winemaking tradition has continued to thrive, and the Saint-Chinian AOC title was established in 1982. While it’s likely that grapes were cultivated in the area even before the monks arrived, their legacy has helped to shape the wine as we know it today.
Saint-Chinian wine is typically a blend of several grape varieties, including Cinsault, Grenache, and Syrah. This unique blend of grape varieties gives the wine its distinct and flavorful profile that wine enthusiasts love. Depending on the wine’s colour, the grape varieties and ratios can differ, creating a wide variety of flavours and aromas.
In fine
This cake is so delicious that I know you will want to make it again and again. So go ahead and try it out, and get ready to experience a taste sensation of the South of France.
