ALSATIAN MULLED WHITE WINE

Hummmmm, it smells Christmas around the corner : the spices, the hot beverages… I have discovered this version in Germany (near Leipzig), during a music festival. I loved it so much that I asked for the recipe. The guy told me that it was Alsatian, ok then… This version with white Alsatian wine is so much lighter than the regular one…. Careful though…  I called it express because I noticed that many of my friends when I proposed to make this mulled wine, did not have all the spices. In France we have a magic little bottle called “4 épices ” (a blend of 4 spices : cloves, nutmeg, ginger and ground pepper), which is absolutely perfect. No need to look for hours for your spices, they are all grounded in one little bottle!!!
Riesling was born in the German Rhineland and is considered to be THE Rhine grape. Its culture is said to be back to the Roman time of occupation (no less…). In fact, it’s during the Charlemagne reign in 843 that Louis II The Germain, planted the aromatic Gentil along the Rhine. The Alsatian Riesling on the other hand, appeared around the 15th century… Enjoy with moderation of course…
